Singapore football assistant to the team manager Iskandar bin Sahak said he will try to improve his team’s attacking potential following a disappointing opening 1-1 draw against 10-man Laos in Nay Pyi Taw’s Group A.
In November, Singapore played friendlies against Cambodia and S-League side Hougang United in Cambodia, but managed to score only two goals in the three fixtures.
“I’ll try to improve my team’s performance in upcoming matches in order to avoid disastrous results like our result of the match against Laos. And I’ll try to make my team to be able to capitalize on chances. I’ll try to enhance my team’s attacking capabilities,” bin Sahak affirmed.
Singapore striker and former national player Aleksandar Duric said the Singaporean team lacks “clinical strikers” and the lack of such quality will continue to plague the team through the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar.
Speaking about the team, he said, “The Singapore team is a good team in the region, but the goal drought is a problem for the team.”
